About The Position

The Ambulatory Float Pool supports clinical staffing across the Wake Market. Clinics typically operate 8a-5p, Monday through Friday; however, there can be variations. This position is part-time, requiring 16 hours per week, and is not benefits eligible. The pay range for this role is $32.45 - $48.70.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Minimum of two years nursing experience required, preferably in an oncology environment.
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in the applicable state.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required within one year in select areas.
  • Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN) preferred and/or must be obtained within one year.
  • Additional specialized training and/or certifications in assigned specialty area are required.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge of the purpose and use of medications in the treatment of cancer.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient/family centered care using the nursing process and focusing on the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs.
  • Apply critical reasoning and astute clinical judgement to expedite appropriate care and treatment.
  • Demonstrate self-directed learning through completion of orientation requirements and continuing education programs.
  • Possess clinical assessment skills relative to the hematology or oncology patient/family.
  • Interact with patients during face-to-face encounters or through telecommunication strategies.
  • Facilitate continuity of care using the nursing process and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Identify clinical priorities and initiate action to improve patient outcomes.
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment.
  • Utilize and promote the use of technology and equipment to enhance safety.
  • Communicate effectively to promote sharing of information throughout the continuum of care.
  • Perform and maintain competency for point-of-care testing as assigned.
  • Apply the provisions of the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Nurses.
  • Provide leadership in the clinical setting and operational accountability for nursing services.
  • Participate in shared governance and adhere to standards of care.
  • Pursue lifelong learning that updates and expands clinical, organizational, and professional roles.
  • Design, administer, and evaluate nursing services in accordance with relevant regulations and policies.
