The Pulmonary Registered Nurse (RN) works collaboratively as an active member of the interprofessional team to provide therapeutic patient and family centered care. The Pulmonary RN is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the clinic, including the delegation of defined tasks to other members of the healthcare team in order to achieve quality patient care while providing a safe environment for patients. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, patient assessment and triage, excellent communication and customer service skills, counseling and educating patients related to pulmonary and sleep conditions and disease processes. The Pulmonary RN prepares patient charts with necessary medical information from referring physicians for office appointments. The Pulmonary RN rooms pulmonary/sleep clinic patients, obtains vital signs and reports patient concerns or pertinent observations to provider. The Pulmonary RN is responsible for coordination of tests and services, assisting physicians with procedures, completing in-office testing ordered by the provider, and accurate documentation of all patient related activities. May also perform procedures and testing under indirect physician supervision.
