About The Position

The Ambulatory Nurse is a nursing staff position, which reports to the Administrative Manager. Performs treatments, administers medications, assists procedures performed without anesthesia while utilizing aseptic technique, assists with employee education and orientation and provides patient/family education with the goal of improving health outcomes. Involves family/significant others in planning health care and health decisions. Delegates and evaluates health care to assistive personnel following the hospital plan for nursing. Recognizes and advocates for each patient being individual with health care needs. Provides considerate, respectful care affirming the patient’s right to make decisions regarding his/her medical care. The Ambulatory Nurse supports outpatient psychiatry providers and a multidisciplinary therapy team delivering behavioral health services to children involved in the juvenile court system. This population presents with high clinical acuity, complex psychosocial needs, and increased care coordination requirements, necessitating dedicated nursing support to ensure safe, timely, and compliant care delivery. Commitment to obtain Bachelors of Science in Nursing within 5 years of hire. Graduation from an accredited program of nursing. Registered Nursing license in State of Ohio.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Support psychiatric medication management, including triage of medication concerns, side-effect monitoring, refills, and prior authorization coordination
  • Complete and document vital signs for all psychiatry visits and support long-acting injectable administration as indicated
  • Phlebotomy skills for lab collection
  • Coordinate care with juvenile court, CSB, schools, and external agencies, including obtaining and tracking consents and releases of information
  • Support Bridge services for patients transitioning from crisis or inpatient settings
  • Assist with compliance metrics including ASQ/PHQ-9 completion, patient satisfaction, and no-show reduction
  • Facilitate communication between psychiatry providers and therapists supporting court-involved youth
  • Support telehealth visits, interpreter services, and documentation required for schools (504/IEP) and court systems
  • Assist with mandatory reporting and follow-up related to child abuse or safety concerns
