About The Position

Position Summary: The Ambulatory Clinical Training Coordinator is responsible the clinical training/orientation of the Clinical (Nursing) staff in the Medical Group. Adult learning theories are utilized when implementing educational programs/activities for staff. The Ambulatory Clinical Training Coordinator acts as a consultant and trainer for standards of care for clinical practice; utilizes and applies change theory in matters related to clinical practice; applies interpersonal skills and fosters communication when interacting with staff and other members of the healthcare organization. The Ambulatory Clinical Training Coordinator is directed by the Ambulatory Clinical (Nurse) Educator in establishing and maintaining clinical competencies; pursues continued excellence in clinical practice; is self‐motivated in identifying own strengths and limitations; and seeks to improve areas of weakness. The Ambulatory Clinical Training Coordinator is not administratively responsible for the supervision of other people but works collaboratively with Practice Managers to assure that standards of clinical practice are met. This position reports to the Director, Nursing Professional Development.

Requirements

  • The Ambulatory Clinical Training Coordinator must be a Licensed Practical Nurse with a current licensure by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the State of New York as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • A minimum of three years clinical experience in the ambulatory setting and demonstrated abilities in teaching, leadership skills, and clinical nursing practice.

Responsibilities

  • Collaboratives with the Ambulatory Clinical (Nursing) Educator to develop, coordinate, and evaluates the orientation program for the nursing staff within the Medical Group.
  • Participates in the assessment and development of staff competencies on initial employee hire.
  • Evaluates competency at the local level of clinical (nursing) orientees
  • Documents competency and maintains the documentation files for clinical (nursing) orientees
  • Participates in the assessment, maintenance, and development of ongoing clinical staff competencies.
  • Conducts or coordinates in‐services for new products and equipment.
  • Maintains documentation records of ongoing competency for clinical (nursing) staff
  • Functions as the skills/training liaison between Clinical Staff and their assigned Practice Manager.
  • Reports compliance and deficiencies in training to the appropriate clinic staff Practice Manager as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with clinical (nursing) staff, and Practice Managers to identify educational criteria to promote high quality clinical (nursing) care.
  • Coordinates educational conferences presented by the nursing departments.
  • Organizes, conducts, and evaluates in‐service and continuing education programs for the clinical (nursing) department.
  • Maintains records of educational programs and activities
  • Assist with EHR workflows to optimize efficiency and assure workflows are maintained and followed.
  • Maintain proficiency as an EPIC super user.
  • Implements and supports the Guthrie Clinic philosophy and objectives.
  • Encourages development of leadership skills in members of the clinical (nursing) staff.
  • Provides clinical expertise for administrative decision making.
  • Utilizes principles of change theory to effect smooth processes of change.
  • Serves as a role model for professional communication skills during interactions with other health team members.
  • Keeps informed of current nursing practice advancements and research findings and provides for dissemination of research developments.
  • Advances nursing practice through evidence‐based practice.
  • Is authorized to access medications and storage areas in the performance of essential job functions and duties.
