Be the Face of Patient Excellence and Quality Customer Service Ambulatory Care Clerk / Children's Oncology Center / Full Time / Days Make a lasting first impression in the Children's Oncology Center-meeting and greeting patients and family members in need of a compassionate ear and calm direction. The Ambulatory Care Clerk performs clerical support functions for the department under the supervision of the Patient Care Director. Responsible for scheduling and processing patient visits to clinics and handling direct and telephone inquiries related to clinic operation. Receives patients in a friendly manner, answers questions regarding procedures and regulations of Ambulatory Care Services, makes arrangements prior to patient examination by clinic physician, processes walk-in patient referrals. Sets up and closes down area for clinic session, cancels and reschedules appointments as directed. Verifies third party account numbers on clinic plates against insurance, Medicare, Medicare cards, completes patient logs when appropriate. Completes transportation forms, processes paperwork and sends letters to patients with broken clinic appointments. Orders, obtains, retrieves and prepares charts and related patient records. This is a full time day position, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am -5:00 pm, at NewYork-Presbyterian/Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Customer Service experience
  • Effective communication

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree
  • Experience in an Ambulatory Pediatric Oncology Center
  • Experience using electronic health information systems
  • One year of clerical experience
  • Knowledge of Medical terminology
