About The Position

The Emergency Medical Tech.- BASIC performs a wide variety of patient care activities related to patients being treated and transported to the hospital by ambulance. The EMT-BASIC also performs the responsibilities of driving emergency vehicles providing due regard for the safety of others while operating the ambulance. The EMT–BASIC performs patient care activities when attending to the patient in the patient compartment of the ambulance. The EMT-Basic performs Life Support procedures within their scope of practice as approved by the Alabama Department of Public Health EMS Division.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited High School or GED.
• License from the Alabama State Department of Public Health as an EMT-BASIC/DRIVER.

Responsibilities

• Drive emergency vehicles while ensuring the safety of others.
• Attend to patients in the patient compartment of the ambulance.
• Perform Life Support procedures within the approved scope of practice.
