About The Position

This position will support ambulatory clinics in the management of patients requiring Specialty Pharmacy medications. In the absence of the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC), the Director of Operations will assume all responsibilities or will designate an appropriately experienced pharmacist on that team to fulfill interim PIC duties. If the Director of Operations is also absent, a SCSP will determine which pharmacist should assume PIC duties. Strong clinical oversight and patient education is mandatory for high functioning specialty pharmacies. The UK Specialty pharmacy will improve clinic workflow, increase patient satisfaction, and increase the volume of specialty medications dispensed through UK pharmacies. The creation of a UK HealthCare Specialty Pharmacy will allow subspecialty care to be entirely managed within UK, avoiding the fractured care that currently exists by relying on external specialty pharmacies and manufacturer hubs. This position will provide a high patient-touch service while obtaining affordable access to these medications, both cornerstones of a high functioning Specialty Pharmacy. Establish safe practices for infusion therapy handling, as well as collaborating and communicating with multidisciplinary team members involved in providing services to patients. There is an internal candidate being considered.
