What you will have an opportunity to do: We are looking for an exceptional guest-centric Host/Hostess to join our AM Restaurant team. This individual is responsible for creating a warm and welcoming first impression when greeting each guest as they arrive to the restaurant. You will need to be quick on your feet and have an engaging attitude as you support the restaurant service team by looking looking for opportunities to assist guests with their needs and providing excellent customer service. This role involves managing reservations, timely seating guests following established procedures, and ensuring efficient flow within the dining area with a sense of urgency during busy service periods, all while being proactive, looking for opportunities to assist guests with their needs or inquiries, and ensuring a pleasant dining experience. Additionally, you will use your computer experience and basic mathematical skills to successfully process guest tickets in the hotel's POS systems efficiently, as well as handle cash/credit transactions, balance the register, and resolve billing issues to ensure guest satisfaction and smooth operations. Requirements

  • Previous experience in a hospitality, restaurant, and/or other food service environment.
  • Excellent communication skills: ability to effectively communicate with guests and restaurant staff alike, both verbally and written.
  • Someone with a solid understanding of guest service behaviors and excellent interpersonal skills; able to effectively interact with guests and staff under pressure with high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Someone who is experienced using a computer and basic systems; mathematical and calculator skills are required.
  • Able to easily adapt to unexpected changes and prioritize tasks successfully ensuring guest satisfaction during busy periods.
  • Moves through-out restaurant and kitchen areas, including frequent and repeated climbing up and down stairs, for duration of shift.
  • Capable of remaining in a standing position, either stationary or walking, for duration of shift.
  • Capable of frequent and repeated bending, stooping, leaning over and extending arms fully, carrying and/or lifting to 25 lbs.
  • Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations.
  • Able to work in a busy restaurant environment, including exposure to various noise levels and large crowds.
  • Food Handler Certification and TABC Certification are required.

Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet guests with a smile upon arrival and provide them with menus.
  • Manage the seating chart and assign tables based on reservations and guest flow to maximize efficiency.
  • Answering the telephone and managing reservations for the restaurant and the private dining room, ensuring accurate records and accommodating special requests when possible.
  • Ensure the host area and dining room are clean, stocked and organized, including managing waiting areas and clearing tables.
  • Utilize the restaurant Micros Point of Sale (P.O.S.) system and procedures to process checks and all other transactions.
  • Provide support by preparing tables and assisting servers as needed.
  • Perform daily opening and closing duties and required side-work for role.
  • Maintain expected high standards for uniform and personal appearance.
