About The Position

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, maintainers and engineers, you will help to enable new spaceflight designs by supporting the production of Metallic Additively Manufactured (AM) components. Our team uses process development, root cause and corrective action and continuous improvement to drive Blue Origin's bold mission! Our team achieves this by bringing new machines, materials, processing methods, and support equipment to a production state. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Requirements

  • Experience working in a Production or Development Environment
  • Experience authoring and developing manufacturing processes to improve end product
  • Proven skills with troubleshooting of industrial processes or equipment using Root Cause Analysis methods
  • Bachelor's or higher in Manufacturing/Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or related field
  • Ability to support operations onsite in Kent, Washington and during off hours (if required) via phone or online tools
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with metallic or polymer 3D printing, welding or casting
  • Experience with fabrication methods (ie. machining, sheet metal, carbon fiber manufacturing, riveting, heat treatment etc.)
  • 2+ years of experience in aerospace, medical device manufacturing or a related field
  • Experience with quality management (ie. AS9100 or ISO 9001)
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma training or certification

Responsibilities

  • Understand the AM value stream from start to finish including printing, post processing, thermal processing, and inspection
  • Research, onboard and production harden new processes and equipment to increase quality, efficiency, and reduce cost of the AM workcenter
  • Conduct root cause investigation of issues with machines and manufacturing, and work with operations, maintenance, and outside vendors to implement solutions
