About The Position

The Valley Hotel, located in Homewood, Alabama, is seeking a Line Cook to join their team. This position is essential in preparing culinary delights for guests and hotel clientele, ensuring high quality and presentation of food. The Line Cook will work under the supervision of the Executive Sous Chef, Executive Chef, and Food & Beverage Director. The role involves daily food preparation, maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment, and ensuring guest satisfaction through quality dining experiences.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent experience.
• Culinary certificate or degree preferred.
• Six months to 1 year of experience in a food/beverage services environment.
• Strong knowledge of operating industrial-sized ovens and cooking ranges.
• Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills.
• Knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures.
• Ability to lift, push, and carry 20 - 40 lbs.
• Ability to stand continuously for long periods of time.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production standards.
• Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, ensuring not to prepare more than estimated needs.
• Work all stations on the kitchen line including broiler, sauté, fry, pantry, and expediter stations.
• Date all food containers and rotate perishables as per SOP.
• Check pars for shift use and determine necessary preparation and line setup.
• Assist in keeping buffet stocked and return unused food items to designated storage areas.
• Assist in setting up plans to correct any food cost problems and control food waste.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
