About The Position

PacMar Technologies LLC, a privately-owned defense contractor, is seeking Aluminum Welders/Fabricators. The incumbent will join a group of talented Engineers, Scientist, and Innovators with tremendous top-side potential devoted to solving novel technological problems with national defense implications in the fields of Maritime Platform Design and Prototyping, Power and Energy, Autonomy and Data Science, and Advanced Materials and Manufacturing. This position is located in Honolulu, Hawaii. General Description: We are seeking skilled Aluminum Welders/Fabricators to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in weld preparation, fabrication, fitting, welding, and weld finishing operations to manufacture aluminum, stainless steel, and steel marine vessels and projects. This position requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in aluminum welding/fabrication: Aluminum Welder/Fabricator 2 = Minimum 3 years experience Aluminum Welder/Fabricator 3 = Minimum 5 years experience
  • Proficiency in Aluminum MIG welding
  • Experience with Aluminum MIG welding machines
  • Ability and knowledge to adjust power and wire feed settings for desired weld quality independently
  • Experience with power tools and hand tools
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and welding symbols
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
  • Good teamwork and communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident of the U.S. due to Export Control purposes and to obtain security clearance required for base access
  • Must be able to successfully obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Must be able to successfully obtain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) credential to gain access to federally controlled work sites.
  • Employment is contingent upon successfully passing an employee background check and post-offer drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in welding techniques, TIG
  • Experience working in a fabrication facility or shipyard environment within the last one to two years
  • Experience in the maritime industry

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding operations according to project specifications and welding codes.
  • Fabricate, fit up, and assemble components for marine vessels, including hulls, decks, machinery, and other components.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols.
  • Conduct quality inspections of welded joints to ensure they meet standards for strength and appearance.
  • Operates and/or uses related equipment and tools which include forklifts, slings, grinders (portable & bench), cutting torches, band saws, circular saws, hand tools, drills, and tape measures.
  • Collaborate with team members, engineers, and project managers to ensure specification are correct and project goals are met on time and within budget.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment in accordance with company safety standards.
  • Clean work areas around the yard on a daily and a weekly basis.
  • Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition.
  • Aluminum Welder/Fabricator 2: Works independently and consults with engineers for spec's on moderately complex projects.
  • Aluminum Welder/Fabricator 3: Works independently from start to finish on complex projects with specifications from engineers. Able to fabricate, lay-up and weld out with consistent high quality and efficiency. Works with Welder 1 and 2 to divide tasks to set up work flow for increased efficiency. Provides design feedback to engineers
