About The Position

STV has an immediate need in our North Carolina offices for an Alternative Delivery Civil/Roadway Engineer in our Transportation division. The successful candidate will provide project management and professional design services for transportation improvement projects for municipal agencies, local governments, and NCDOT. Responsibilities include managing design, providing senior-level functional designs, and ensuring quality control for roadway geometry and details, drainage, work zone traffic control, pavement markings, and signing for transportation infrastructure. The role involves interaction with client management teams, engineers in other technical disciplines, and marketing teams. The candidate will also coordinate design development, assist with technical direction to other design staff, and work with practice and office leadership to advance their career and STV’s growth. The position requires facilitating and leading project meetings, creating and monitoring scopes, fees, schedules, staffing projections, risk registers, sub agreements, QC records, deliverable submittals, and invoices, as well as establishing working relationships with client technical staff and mentoring supporting Civil design staff.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in all technical aspects of roadway design or bridge design.
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • NC PE license is required.
  • Experience in project management and design of intersections, roundabouts, interchanges, widenings, and bike/ped facilities.
  • Strong inter-personal skills for client and other engineering discipline interaction.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with using Open Roads Designer.
  • Experience with NCDOT and other NC municipalities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide project management and professional design services for transportation improvement projects.

  • Mentor supporting Civil design staff.
