The Alternate Facility Security Officer (AFSO) reports to the Senior Facility Security Officer (Sr. FSO), assisting and administering the company’s industrial security program in accordance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), DCSA guidance, and applicable federal regulations. In this role, the AFSO helps ensure the safeguarding of classified information and supports personnel, facility, and system security processes, particularly when the primary FSO is unavailable. This position is responsible for assisting with day‑to-day security operations, supporting compliance activities, maintaining required documentation, and contributing to audits, reporting, and training efforts. The AFSO also supports the rollout of security‑related initiatives and application changes, helps generate audit and compliance reports, and provides guidance to employees on established security policies and procedures. This role supports and ensures compliance with U.S. Government and DoD security operations and processes; this is NOT a physical security guard or facilities management role.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must possess an Active DoD security clearance at the Secret level or higher
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in industrial security or as an AFSO or FSO.
  • Strong understanding of DoD security policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Experience with generating audit reports and maintaining security documentation.
  • Knowledge of current security threats, techniques, and landscape.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide training and guidance to other team members.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to address and mitigate security issues.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within a foreign-owned, FOCI-mitigated U.S. government contractor, ideally under a Special Security Agreement, including interface with a GSC.
  • Operational experience in industrial security programs as an FSO or CPSO
  • COMSEC account management experience.
  • Physical Security – ICD 705 Technical Specifications Experience.
  • Experience in working with but not limited to: ITAR, NATO, CUI, emergency management, policy development and risk analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the alternate point of contact for all security-related matters in the absence of the primary FSO.
  • Assist with the implementation and monitoring of security procedures in compliance with NISPOM, DCSA guidelines, and company policies.
  • Continually ensures compliance with the security program and FOCI mitigations, assists in all quarterly reviews, audits and reporting requirements; assists in preparation quarterly reports for the Government Security Committee (GSC) of the Board of Directors (BOD).
  • Maintain personnel security clearances (PCLs) through DISS, e-QIP, and other government systems.
  • Ensures development and implementation of an ongoing Security Education & Training Awareness (SETA) program.
  • Must coordinate and conduct security briefings, debriefings, and annual training sessions for employees.
  • Support investigations of security incidents or violations and prepare reports as necessary.
  • Maintain up-to-date security documentation and records, including visit authorizations and self-inspections.
  • Generate reports for audit control purposes and maintain up-to-date documentation of problem resolution for audit and reference purposes.
  • Help manage access control systems and ensure facility access policies are followed.
  • Provide security guidance to internal teams and ensure compliance with contract-specific security requirements.
  • Assist in the implementation of strategic corporate security initiatives and application changes.
  • Review application security logs to monitor for anomalous activities and report them to appropriate management.
  • Work with internal and external resources to resolve security issues within prescribed timeframes.
  • Analyze user needs in collaboration with associates and staff support functions to test and develop solutions based on business requirements.
