About The Position

The tech/nurse demonstrates the ability to make clinical judgments in an effective and efficient manner with supervision. The nurse demonstrates critical thinking and performance ability in the coordination of patient care. Consistently performs according to practice standards and is accountable in managing patient care and assisting others in the management of patient care.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of Medical Assistant or clinical experience required.
  • LVN/LPN Nursing Degree
  • Medical Assistant Certification
  • Strong organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in EMR systems and general office technology.
  • Strong knowledge of allergy protocols, excellent written and verbal communication, EMR proficiency, ability to lead by example and support a high-functioning team.

Responsibilities

  • Provides general care to patients.
  • Administers prescribed testing, medications and treatments.
  • Observes, records and reports patients’ reactions to treatment.
  • Performs focused interview to identify specific patient’s needs.
  • Test and treat patients for allergy related problems in a caring and competent manner.
  • Responsible for accurately documenting tests in the patients’ electronic medical record.
  • Mix and accurately prepare allergy vials/bottles for SCIT/SLIT immunotherapy.
  • Administer allergy injections in a safe and aseptic manner.
  • Assures patient stays for required observation time after injection(s).
  • Reacts appropriately to patient reaction situations; informs physician and/or other clinical staff as necessary to mitigate adverse reactions.
  • Responsible for educating the patient and/or family about preventing allergen exposure.
  • Responsible for educating the patient and/or family about signs/symptoms of anaphylaxis, along with treatment of all minor to severe reactions.
  • Responsible for accurately maintaining allergy supplies and inventories.
  • Responsible for weekly maintenance of allergy testing equipment
  • Maintain allergy department schedules and allergy patient appointments
  • Ensure the Allergy department is neat and clean, and equipment is in good order at all times, including any safety and maintenance checks.
  • Uses critical thinking to triage the needs of the patient through all phases of being in allergy clinic.
  • Serves as a role model and consultant to staff.
  • Enters billing CPT codes for all tests, vial tests, injections, vial prep, SLIT preparations and pickups.
  • Maintains patient, employee and clinic confidentiality.
  • Performs other duties as required.
