About The Position

The RN is a professional nurse registered in Massachusetts who is responsible and accountable for a specified group of patients in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at 850 Boylston Street, Chestnut Hill and other off-site locations. The RN demonstrates initiative, knowledge and clinical skills in caring for patients with complex needs and is directly responsible to the Nurse Director and Practice Manager. Responsibilities include administration of allergen immunotherapy, allergy testing, patient education, and telephone call triage. The RN will work at various off-site locations and is expected to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing with current registration in Massachusetts.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing required for newly licensed nurses.
  • Experience in an ambulatory outpatient office visit setting required.
  • Current or recent pediatric experience required.
  • Experience in Allergy required.
  • Procedural experience required.
  • Knowledge and experience with telephone triage required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and experience in administration of allergen immunotherapy/desensitization.
  • Knowledge and experience in methods of allergy testing.
  • Knowledge and experience in oral challenge techniques.
  • Knowledge and experience in preparation and mixing of allergen extracts.
  • Knowledge and experience in patient education regarding allergen control measures.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating a plan of care for a specific patient assignment.
  • Sets priorities when organizing care for patients with varying acuity.
  • Maintains continuity through clear and concise communication.
  • Documents care clearly, completely, and in compliance with nursing standards.
  • Develops a comprehensive plan of care based on initial assessments and other data.
  • Educates patients and families regarding allergen environmental control measures.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of the plan of care and revises as needed.
  • Participates in quality management and improvement programs.
  • Administers medication safely according to established policies.
  • Performs nursing procedures safely and efficiently.
