About the position

As an All Purpose Meat Clerk, you will maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on providing fast and friendly customer service. Your responsibilities will include assisting customers with product suggestions, filling special orders, and engaging in suggestive selling techniques. You will be responsible for trimming, cutting, wrapping, and displaying meat, as well as building meat and seafood displays. Ensuring cleanliness of the work area and department is crucial, along with implementing effective promotional and seasonal displays. You will also manage the operation and maintenance of the meat cooler, freezer, and butcher block, while adhering to company policies and guidelines. Additionally, you will control inventory levels, ensure proper product preparation techniques, and maintain accurate department records.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on providing fast and friendly customer service.
  • Assist customers by making product suggestions, filling special orders, and providing food preparation suggestions.
  • Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, in-store intercom, and one-on-one customer interaction.
  • Trim, cut, wrap, tray, grind, and display meat.
  • Build meat and seafood displays, rotate and discard outdated or spoiled product.
  • Ensure cleanliness of work area and department.
  • Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.
  • Operate and maintain the meat cooler, freezer, and butcher block.
  • Follow and maintain department standards and requirements in handling quick sales items.
  • Understand opening and closing department procedures.
  • Ensure proper code dating for all products within the department.
  • Control shrink and cost.
  • Assist with controlling inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness.
  • Stock and rotate product, maintaining and organizing meat cooler and freezer.
  • Implement correct product preparation techniques.
  • Use and operate related equipment such as pallet jack, hand truck, scissors, knives, grinder, saw, saw blades, safety cutters, price labeling machine, and tenderizer.
  • Complete, maintain, and monitor daily log sheets, Production Charts, Meat Grinding Logs, Sales and Labor, and other required paperwork.
  • Perform receiving duties including breaking downloads, verifying orders using invoices, inspecting quality, reporting shortages, and stocking and rotating product.
  • Adhere to product temperature and storage guidelines and follow proper packaging techniques.
  • Ensure that proper temperature levels for product are maintained.
  • Comply with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, and company and code dating policies.
  • Comply with all workplace safety rules and regulations.
  • Ensure safety, cleanliness, and sanitation of sales floor, work area, freezer, cooler, equipment, cutting room, and display area.
  • Comply with company grooming standards and dress code.
  • Perform all job duties and responsibilities safely, accurately, and with honesty and integrity.
