Most positions at EMPACT require either a Master’s degree in a behavioral health field AND behavioral health licensure OR BHT (Behavioral Health Technician) status. For EMPACT-Suicide Prevention Center, BHT (Behavioral Health Technician) status means: An individual who: 1. Has a master’s degree or bachelor’s degree in a field related to behavioral health; OR 2. Is a registered nurse; OR 3. Has a bachelor’s degree and at least one year of full-time behavioral health work experience; OR 4. Is licensed as a practical nurse, according to A.R.S. Title 32, Chapter 15, with at least two years of full-time behavioral health work experience; OR 5. Has an associate’s degree and at least two years of full-time behavioral health work experience; OR 6. Has a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma AND: 1. 18 credit hours of post-high school education in a field related to behavioral health completed no more than four years before the date the individual begins providing behavioral health services and two years of full-time behavioral health work experience; OR 2. Four years of full-time behavioral health work experience. For EMPACT-SPC, "Behavioral Health Work Experience" generally refers to providing for and working DIRECTLY with clients with mental health and substance use disorders, life stressors and crises, and stress-related physical symptoms, as well as, providing prevention and treatment of those conditions. All EMPACT-SPC employees must have a fingerprint clearance card or be able to obtain one.
