Job Summary & Responsibilities Onto is seeking an Algorithms Engineer to establish the foundational data and evaluation infrastructure required to accelerate defect detection algorithm development. In this role, you will lead a focused effort to transform raw scan data into a reproducible, well‑structured dataset with associated ground truth and evaluation pipelines. Your work will enable reliable benchmarking of both classical algorithms and machine learning / AI models, laying the groundwork for future algorithm innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • Strong experience with algorithm development, data engineering, or machine learning pipelines.
  • Hands‑on experience working with large, unstructured or semi‑structured datasets.
  • Familiarity with principles of ground truth creation, dataset versioning, and experimental reproducibility.
  • Experience defining evaluation metrics and benchmarking workflows for algorithms or ML models.
  • Proficiency in Python and common data/ML tooling.
  • Strong analytical thinking and ability to work independently on ambiguous, foundational problems.
