Summer 2026 Algonquin Editorial Internship
About The Position
Hachette Book Group is looking for a Summer intern interested in a career in publishing. This role provides hands-on editorial experience, including manuscript review, research, and administrative support, while working closely with the Algonquin editorial team. Algonquin Books is a literary imprint known for publishing distinctive voices in fiction and nonfiction. With a strong reputation for discovering and nurturing writers, Algonquin publishes books that are both critically acclaimed and widely read, bringing thoughtful, character-driven stories to a broad audience. Logistics: Program Dates: June 1 — August 6 Weekly schedule: 21-28 hours per week Location : New York office, three days in office hybrid schedule Pay rate : $17.00/hour Company laptop will be provided for the duration of the internship.
Requirements
- Current student with interest in publishing
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Responsibilities
- Log and review manuscript submissions and draft reader reports
- Research market trends and comparable titles
- Assist with editorial mailings and author-related projects
- Draft copy including flap, catalog, and marketing materials
- Provide administrative and organizational support
