About The Position

Professional Medical Practice, P.C., is looking for an Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC, CASAC2) to work in the medical departments at multiple correctional facilities throughout New York State. This is a Full-Time Float position (40 hours/week) with availability to cover the following facilities: Rensselaer County Jail : 4000 Main Street, Troy, NY 12180 Schenectady County Jail: 320 Veeder Ave., Schenectady, NY 12307 Saratoga County Correctional Facility : 6010 County Farm Rd, Ballston Spa, NY 12020 Fulton County Correctional Facility : 2710 State HWY 29, Johnstown, NY. 12095 Montgomery County Jail : 200 Clark Dr, Fultonville, NY 12072 Schoharie County Jail : 157 Steadman Way, Howes Cave, NY 12092 Greene County Jail: 45 Haverly Memorial Drive, Coxsackie, NY 12192 Columbia County Jail: 85 Industrial Tract, Hudson, NY 12534 Additional Facilities as needed. Hourly Rate: $27.00- 30.00. Offering a Vehicle Stipend in addition. You must have a CASAC or CASAC2 to qualify for this role. CASAC-T's do not qualify.

Requirements

  • Must be certified as an Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC or CASAC2)
  • Bachelor’s Degree / Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or other related Human Services degree with a concentration in drug and alcohol course work.
  • Minimum one (1) year clinical experience preferred.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to function independently and demonstrating clinical competency.
  • Ability to gain trust of patients and build a working relationship.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the clinical monitoring, coordination, and implementation of the behavioral health program in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Serve as the liaison between medical and facility staff as it pertains to Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT).
  • Engage patient in therapeutic interventions with the goal of addressing substance use related concerns.
  • Facilitate group and individual sessions with patients in the MAT program.
  • Actively assist with the detection and prevention of patient suicide.
  • Document all patient encounters in a timely manner utilizing the SOAPE note format.
  • Assist and/or collaborate with facility staff regarding discharge planning for patients in the MAT program, where applicable.
  • Facilitate/participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and/or case consultations with staff across disciplines.
  • Participate as a member of the Quality Assurance Committee and any sub-committees.
  • Assist in the establishment of Quality Assurance standards and audit criteria.
  • Serve as a member of various committees within the medical unit and facility as necessary.
