We back our work with prompt, 24/7/365 support. The Role As an Alarm Technician, you’ll install, program, test, inspect, and service low-voltage life-safety and security systems for commercial and residential clients. You’ll represent MAC on-site, ensuring clean workmanship, code-compliant installs, and a great customer experience.

Requirements

  • 2+ years’ experience installing or servicing low-voltage systems (intrusion, access, video, or fire alarm).
  • Working knowledge of low-voltage wiring, IP networking basics, and hand/power tools.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 72 inspection/testing principles (MAC provides training).
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to pass background/MVR per life-safety industry standards.
  • Professional communication and customer-service skills; comfort working independently on client sites.

Nice To Haves

  • NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level I/II (or progress toward it) and/or ESA or manufacturer certifications.
  • Experience with Wisconsin AHJs and local permitting/inspection processes.
  • Understanding of Wisconsin’s low-voltage landscape (state generally exempts <50V work from electrical contractor licensing, though many customers/AHJs prefer certifications such as NICET).

Responsibilities

  • Install, program, and commission intrusion/burglary, video/CCTV, card access, fire alarm, and alarm monitoring communicators per scope and drawings.
  • Perform scheduled inspections, testing, and maintenance; document results in accordance with NFPA 72 best practices.
  • Troubleshoot devices, panels, networks, and power/communication issues; execute repairs and replacements.
  • Read/interpret plans, risers, one-lines, specs, and AHJ comments; update redlines and as builts.
  • Train end users and provide post-install support in coordination with MAC’s monitoring team.
  • Collaborate with project managers and sales on site readiness, change orders, and punch list closeout.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support MAC’s 24/7/365 service commitment.

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly pay (DOE) with overtime eligibility.
  • Company vehicle/tools for fieldwork, paid training/certifications (e.g., NICET/ESA), uniforms, and benefits package.
