About The Position

The Alarm Technician II is responsible for installing access control systems (CCTV, card access, etc.) and electrical wiring for security/fire alarm systems in campus buildings. This includes pulling wire/cable, helping to maintain the database for card access, and troubleshooting electrical problems with security/fire alarm systems, card access, and CCTV. The role also involves responding to after-hours/on-call emergencies. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is essential, as is the ability to foster collegial and harmonious working relationships. Requirements

  • The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma
  • NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level I Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Seven (7) or more years of experience in fire alarm systems experience, including alarm and detection, notification, sprinkler monitoring, and interfaces and controls for agent releasing suppression systems
  • Experience with computer hardware, operating systems, IT networking
  • Valid Driver License in good standing
  • Knowledge of the methods, practices, and safety precautions in one or more of the skilled trades
  • Knowledge of the laws and regulations relating to one or more of the skilled trades
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, schematics, building plans, and/or work drawings
  • Skill in the use and care of tools and machinery used in one or more of the skilled trades
  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions
  • Knowledge and use of a CMMS/Work Order Management system and associated mobile platforms, if applicable
  • Knowledge understanding of Microsoft Office products such as email, spreadsheets
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior staff or apprentices
  • Advance knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, and IT networking or issues related to these areas

  • Journeyman Electrician License
  • Experience with low voltage
