About The Position
The AIX Administrator position is a senior-level role that requires minimal supervision while working closely with mid and upper-level management teams. The primary focus of this role is to manage and support both AIX and Red Hat Linux systems, ensuring the stability and performance of critical infrastructure hardware and software that supports the City of New York's Financial Management application system environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and configuration of HP X86 systems and IBM POWER servers, which are essential for the operational efficiency of the city's financial systems. In this role, the AIX Administrator will engage in a variety of tasks including building and configuring Virtual Machines using IBM PowerVM and VMware technology. The responsibilities extend to managing system resources, performing regular patching and upgrades, monitoring system performance, and resolving any issues that arise within the FMS3 and Single Sign-On system environments. The position also requires participation in an on-call rotation, with the expectation that the administrator may need to work nights or weekends as necessary to maintain system integrity and availability. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with AIX, particularly version 7.2, and will have a strong background in managing VIOS, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and various IBM hardware and software technologies. The role demands a proactive approach to system management, with a focus on performance tuning, capacity planning, and disaster recovery strategies. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with other teams are essential for success in this position.
