About The Position
The Assistant In Training (AIT) position at Omni PGA Frisco Resort is designed for individuals seeking to advance their careers in the turfgrass industry, specifically within Golf Course Management. This role is pivotal in developing a comprehensive understanding of golf course maintenance operations while acquiring essential skills through hands-on experience and mentorship. The AIT will play a crucial role in the success of the golf course maintenance team, engaging in various responsibilities that include supervising staff, making critical operational decisions, and implementing maintenance strategies. The AIT will be involved in overseeing water management programs that ensure the highest quality playing surfaces on the golf course. This includes supervising and educating subordinate staff on maintenance techniques and ensuring that training standards are met. The AIT must be proficient in all job tasks related to golf course maintenance, which encompasses operating mowing equipment, heavy machinery, and application equipment. Additionally, the AIT will direct work and supervise small crews on special projects, ensuring that all tasks are executed properly and efficiently. In collaboration with Golf Course Superintendents and Assistants, the AIT will assist in developing chemical and fertility plans, gaining a solid understanding of industry-standard chemistries and fertilizers. The role also involves setting irrigation programs and assisting with daily observations of the golf course to adjust maintenance programs as necessary. The AIT will be responsible for maintaining compliance with environmental regulations and ensuring the organization of the Golf Course Management facility and equipment. This position requires strong communication skills, as the AIT will provide professional advice and support to management and staff alike.
