About The Position

The Airway Transportation Systems Specialist (ATSS) Automation position at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Olathe, Kansas, involves overseeing the operation of the National Airspace System (NAS) with a focus on automated systems and networking. Requirements

• Possess expert knowledge and skills in the operation, installation, maintenance, modification, repair, troubleshooting, flight check, and certification of automation systems.
• Experience with Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System, Automated Radar Terminal System, and other related systems.
• Experience at the next lower level, FV-H/FG-12/Level III or equivalent, is generally required.
• Demonstrated ability to perform complex technical tasks and resolve unique technical problems.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in working with external organizations such as DoD, airport management, and contractors.
• Knowledge of emerging technologies related to NAS systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of functions related to the operation of the NAS.
• Provide technical support for analyzing, designing, developing, installing, repairing, and maintaining complex systems.
• Serve as a principal technical specialist or team leader for major projects.
• Evaluate diagnostic data from multiple systems to support service delivery.
• Review and evaluate automation tickets and work with stakeholders to eliminate erroneous tickets.
• Represent the organization as the primary technical point of contact on projects and programs.
• Plan, coordinate, and perform work with a high degree of independence.
• Develop White Papers recommending enhancements to system efficiency.
