About The Position

The Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) Airside Operations is responsible for coordination and regulatory compliance with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other federal, state, and city government rules and regulations. Airside Operations is responsible for maintaining an active FAA Airport Operating Certificate under Part 139, as well as upholding the Airport Certification Manual approved by the FAA. Airside Operations Agents perform skilled work, including safety and security inspections of the ramp, vehicles, and terminal facilities and relaying emergency and non-emergency information. Operate and monitor communications equipment, such as radios, telephones. Primary function of Airside Operations Agents is to perform escorts, inspections, and respond to incidents in the AOA. Must be able to assess situations quickly, objectively and determine the proper course of action within established rules, regulations and procedures while representing CLT in a professional, positive manner.

Requirements

  • High School diploma (or GED equivalent) and one year of related work experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License (Required).
  • Non-Movement Area Driving Certification (Required to be obtained upon hire).
  • AAAE C.M. or AAAE ACE Operations (Preferred; able to obtain with 24 months of hire).
  • Associate’s degree in aviation management, or related field and one year experience at an FAR Part 139 commercial service airport in a position in airport operations, airport safety/security, or airline ramp operations (Preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Conducts vehicle escorts on the Non-Movement Area.
  • Assist the Airport stakeholders and public as needed.
  • Act decisively and exercise independent judgment within established rules, regulations and procedures, while operating at an exemplary level of safety.
  • Assists with federal programs to comply with FAA and TSA regulations that are required for commercial service airports.
  • Enforce Airport established rules and regulations that govern the operation of the airfield and airport employees.
  • Interpret and adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations to ensure the safety and security of all persons and resources on airport property.
  • Formulate comprehensive and concise communications in both oral and written form.
  • Completes all required documentation.
  • Ability to respond calmly and effectively during emergency and irregular operations incidents following NIMS/ICS structure.
  • Support snow, wildlife and construction related duties.
  • Completes all required Part 139 initial and recurrent training in a timely manner.
  • Assists other Airport Operations divisions with tasks as needed for continuity of operations.
  • May be assigned to day-to-day Airport Operations duties as needed, 24/7/365.
  • Other duties as assigned.
