Airside Operations is responsible for maintaining an active FAA Airport Operating Certificate under Part 139, as well as upholding the Airport Certification Manual approved by the FAA. Airside Operations Interns will participate in skilled work, including safety inspections and emergency response of the Aircraft Operations Area and outlying facilities. Operate and monitor communications equipment, such as radios, computers and other various systems. Must be able to act within established rules, regulations and procedures while representing CLT in a professional, positive manner.

Requirements

  • High School diploma (or GED equivalent)
  • Current enrollment in an accredited college or university leading towards a Bachelor's degree with major course work in a related field of study specific to the departmental and/or work assignment.
  • Valid Driver’s License (Required)
  • Non-Movement Area Driving Certification (Required to be obtained upon hire)
  • Knowledge of: Airports and the federal regulations that govern them
  • Skill in : Verbal and written communication, problem solving, and critical thinking
  • Ability to: Work well in a team setting in a fast paced regulated environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with airport operations and or aviation industry.
  • Experience working in a fast paced or regulated environment.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and adhere to both Federal and Local rules and regulations. procedures, and instructions to ensure the safety and security of the Airport.
  • Monitor and inspect, for safety and security purposes, the airfield, runways, taxiways and apron lighting and terminal facilities; identify problems and report appropriately.
  • Communicate effectively; operate a variety of communications equipment; transmit and receive emergency and non-emergency information; maintains logs and records.
  • Provide escorts on the ramp.
  • Assist with logs, records, and reports.
  • Provide assistance to airlines, tenants, traveling public and other employees as needed.
  • Other duties assigned
