About The Position

Provo City is looking for a full-time Airport Operations Specialist to assist in directing airside operations, maintaining Provo's Airport Operating Certificate, and coordinating airport security, including airport security systems and facilities. Qualified, civic-minded individuals interested in supporting airport services provided to Provo residents are strongly encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • 1 Year of progressively responsible maintenance and heavy equipment experience.
  • Department of Homeland Security background check.
  • A valid, lawful Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Airport Security Coordinator certificate and Airport Inspector and Airport Wildlife Hazard Management on-the-job training completion required within one month of hire.
  • Must obtain and hold an Airport SIDA Badge.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of related experience at a Part 139 certificated airport OR a Bachelor's degree in aviation-related field plus 1 year of experience at a Part 139 certificated airport.
  • FAA-accredited Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) certification during employment.
  • Must obtain 1 or more of ASOS, ACE, or CM ratings from American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE).
  • 4 years of related experience at a Part 139 certificated airport.
  • Must obtain CM rating and 1 ACE rating: Airfield Lighting, Airfield Operations, or Airport Security from American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE).
  • Must complete 1 of the following: CPR & AED, EMR, or EMT.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the inspection of airfield to comply with Federal Aviation Regulations including 14 CFR Part 139.
  • Closely monitor all airfield areas.
  • Complete all required paperwork, communication and training to maintain FAA airport certifications.
  • Ensure TSR compliance.
  • Monitor, inspect, and routinely patrol all airport areas for safety concerns, operation and security issues, and compliance with federal, state and local law, rules, and regulations.
  • Ensure all airport electrical systems/equipment, radio equipment, landing direction indicators, air traffic control tower, access gates, parking toll booths, baggage belts, ticket counters, boarding gates, and all other airport-owned equipment is fully operational 24/7.
