The Airport Operations Coordinator I position at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport involves ensuring the safe and efficient operation of airport facilities. The role requires performing inspections, responding to incidents, and providing exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment. The coordinator will monitor various systems, assist during emergencies, and ensure compliance with federal regulations while supporting the airport's operational needs.

  • Perform inspections of airport terminal facilities and roadways to evaluate safety and security conditions.
  • Document and take corrective action to prevent personal injury and damage to airport property.
  • Monitor, analyze, and respond to airport fire, security, weather, and flight tracking systems.
  • Answer emergency calls and dispatch Milwaukee County Fire Department in accordance with airport policies.
  • Assist as a second responder during airport emergencies, incidents, and accidents.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient flow of passengers and traffic through airport facilities.
  • Monitor airport construction and maintenance projects for safety compliance.
  • Coordinate international flight arrivals and assist with special events and irregular operations.
  • Perform daily inspections of Lawrence J. Timmerman Airport airfield and facilities.
  • Assist customers via phone, radio, and computer systems, resolving operational problems and complaints.
  • Manage aircraft assignments for flexible-use gates and monitor Air IT systems.
  • Provide on-the-job training for new employees.
  • Authorized to work in the USA.
  • Valid Driver's License at time of application with the ability to obtain a Wisconsin Driver's license within six months of hire.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least one year of aviation experience.
  • High level of aptitude in Customer Service.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office and GIS/Asset Management software.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 20 lbs. and push/pull up to 20 lbs. occasionally.
  • Undergo a criminal history background check for security clearance.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Management or related field.
  • AAAE Airport Certified in Employee Operations.
