About The Position
The Jacksonville Aviation Authority (JAA) welcomes applications for the role of Airport Operations Control Center (AOCC) Specialist. This is technical work in receiving and transmitting a variety of calls to include normal, irregular and emergency calls for information and messages within the Airport Operations Control Center (AOCC) and in coordination with JAA personnel, airlines, tenants, TSA, FAA, and other agencies/groups at JAX. Work requires knowledge of emergency communications operating procedures, with the ability to operate various communication equipment including phones and radios. Applicants will be required to answer and respond to various types of calls from individuals and require assertiveness as well as sensitivity to ensure appropriate information is gathered and transmitted according to the situation. The scope of work is managed by standard operating procedures and departmental guidelines, but the employee has the latitude to take action according to the specific situation and must be able to adjust to situations not previously encountered. The employee must determine the nature of each call and follow the appropriate procedure based on training and experience. Work is performed at a console in a controlled environment.
