About The Position

The City of Hutchinson is seeking a skilled and motivated Airport Maintenance & Line Technician to support the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of our municipal airport. This position plays a critical role in maintaining airfield infrastructure, supporting aircraft operations, and ensuring compliance with federal aviation standards. In this role, you will perform a wide range of maintenance, operations, and fueling duties, including: Airfield Operations & Compliance Conduct daily inspections of runways, taxiways, lighting systems, signage, and security areas Monitor and report airfield conditions, including issuing Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) Ensure compliance with FAA Part 139 standards and applicable regulations Coordinate with the control tower when working in protected movement areas Maintenance & Repairs Perform building, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry maintenance Maintain terminal facilities and respond to tenant and public service requests Repair pavement, signage, lighting systems, and airport infrastructure Maintain and repair equipment, vehicles, and groundskeeping tools Grounds & Airfield Maintenance Perform mowing, weed control, grading, and general airfield upkeep Conduct snow and ice removal and apply deicing agents Repair potholes and perform pavement maintenance Aircraft Fueling & Line Service Safely fuel aircraft including jets, turboprops, and piston aircraft Maintain fuel systems in compliance with FAA, NFPA, and environmental standards Track fuel inventory, process payments, and reconcile daily transactions Emergency Response & Support Respond to airfield emergencies and after-hours incidents Enforce airfield rules and maintain operational readiness What We're Looking For

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three (3) years of experience in building maintenance, mechanical systems, or equipment repair
  • Valid driver's license (Kansas license required within 90 days)
  • Certifications (or ability to obtain) Class B Commercial Driver's License (within 6 months)
  • Right-of-Way Chemical Application License (within 1 year)
  • Knowledge of building systems, equipment maintenance, and airfield lighting systems
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment, tractors, and power tools
  • Familiarity with FAA regulations (14 CFR 77 & 139)
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Attention to detail and commitment to safety

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working at an FAA Part 139 certified airport

Responsibilities
