About The Position

Eagle County Government is seeking a Fleet Mechanic to join our Eagle Regional Airport team. This is a single position with flexibility to hire at a I, II, or III level, depending on experience and qualifications. As an Airport Fleet Mechanic, you will be responsible for keeping our critical infrastructure running safely and efficiently. Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and the ability to pass a federal background check.
  • A strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
  • Must be available for on-call and weekend duties.
  • Experienced in maintaining and repairing vehicles, heavy equipment, or building systems (HVAC, plumbing, etc.).
  • Able to work effectively with the entire airport staff.
  • One year performing routine maintenance on gasoline or diesel powered vehicles and one year experience in the repair of tires, tubes and wheels; or, any combination of education and experience which produces the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Requires a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
  • 1-3 years of experience in the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of various building systems.
  • Possess a valid State of Colorado Driver’s License, or ability to obtain within 60 days, with a satisfactory motor vehicle record without restrictions.
  • Six (6) years on-the job experience as a journey level mechanic performing routine maintenance on gasoline or diesel powered vehicles; or, any combination of education and experience which produces the required knowledge, skills and abilities. One (1) year of experience at Eagle County Airport as a fleet mechanic or a similar fleet experience at another airport Attend Basic and Advanced Snow Equipment Mechanic training
  • Completion of a technical training program with at least 1 ASE certifications in Automotive and Medium/Heavy Truck maintenance.
  • Possess a valid State of Colorado Driver’s License, or ability to obtain within 60 days, with a satisfactory motor vehicle record without restrictions.

Nice To Haves

  • Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or be able to obtain such CDL within 1 year of employment.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of various building systems.
  • Prior experience maintaining baggage conveyor systems.
  • Class B Commercial Driver’s License or ability to obtain within 1 year.
  • Any experience in the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of various building systems.
  • More than six (6) years on-the-job experience as a journey level mechanic performing detailed maintenance on gas or diesel powered vehicles, Experience with hybrid/alternative fueled vehicles, or construction equipment.
  • Class B Commercial Driver’s License or ability to obtain within 1 year.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair essential airport equipment, including baggage conveyor systems, passenger jet bridges, and facility HVAC.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Operate vehicles and heavy equipment in a secure environment.
  • Ensure all work complies with strict FAA and TSA safety and security regulations.
  • Level III mechanics will lead projects and mentor junior team members.
