About The Position

Kirkham Michael provides integrated engineering and construction services to a wide variety of public and private clients. We are a dynamic firm focused on our clients’ success and we fulfill project and program needs from initial concept through implementation with innovative, yet practical solutions. We are currently looking for an energetic and knowledgeable individual to fill a full-time Airport Engineer In Training position in our Lincoln, Nebraska office. This position will be heavily focused on FAA Airport projects. The ideal incumbent would be an individual looking to pursue a career in Airport Engineering. This position could be filled by a recent graduate or an individual with professional experience up to three years in the field. The title/level of position will be based on the skills and experience of the candidate selected.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
• Engineering Intern certification (or have exam scheduled to be completed)
• Experience or knowledge of FAA or DOT Standards and Procedures is helpful
• Software experience should include AutoCAD and/or Microstation
• Background with AutoCAD Civil 3D surface grading is preferred
• Geotechnical and materials engineering experience is favorable
• Knowledge of coordinate systems and GIS mapping is beneficial
• Strong technical/qualitative writing ability
• Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines

Responsibilities

• Collects data and gathers information or documents
• Performs standard computations or analysis
• Prepares drawings and visual aids
• Observes construction activities and/or basic survey services and completes accompanying reports
• Assists on other tasks such as: preparation of permit applications, material testing, CADD work, filing air space studies
• Performs moderate design tasks and prepares portions of project documents
• Edits specifications
• Performs research and investigations
