About The Position

This National Guard position is a Permanent GS-2181-13 AIRPLANE PILOT (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0253P02 and is part of the MO 139th Airlift Wing. This is a non-bargaining position. The position requires piloting advanced, single or multi-engine military airplanes and high-performance military fighter aircraft on tactical/non-tactical assigned missions using advanced precision instrument flight techniques. The pilot must maintain a thorough knowledge of aircraft systems and procedures under various conditions and ensure safety during operations.

Requirements

  • Must be a rated pilot on flying status with appropriate FAA pilot certificates or military ratings.
  • Must possess at least one year of on-the-job experience in piloting.
  • Must have two years of specialized experience in piloting advanced military aircraft.
  • Must maintain the same medical standards as USAF military pilots.
  • NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
  • Must have graduated from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate Degree from an accredited civilian academic college or equivalent military education.
  • Experience in conducting crew member training on mission-specific tasks.
  • Experience in aviation unit quality control management programs.

Responsibilities

  • Pilot advanced, single or multi-engine military airplanes and high-performance military fighter aircraft on tactical/non-tactical assigned missions.
  • Execute normal flight procedures and standard maneuvers in all weather conditions.
  • Maintain mission qualifications in the assigned airplane.
  • Prepare for flight by securing current and forecast weather information.
  • Plan the flight through the study of maps and charts.
  • Check and verify that the airplane is ready for flight.
  • Brief passengers and crew members on flight nature and emergency procedures.
  • Operate the airplane safely and adhere to flight procedures.
  • Communicate and coordinate with ground units and controlling activities.
  • Accomplish post-flight activities including maintaining logs and writing reports.
  • Design and coordinate comprehensive training plans for aircrew training.
  • Plan, organize, and administer unit flying, explosive, and ground safety programs.
