At Piedmont Airlines, we are excited to share our passion for aviation with you! We are looking for a motivated and reliable professional to join our team as an Airline Dispatcher in our Flight Operations Department. This entry-level position is crucial to our operations, as it involves flight planning and monitoring to ensure the safety and efficiency of our flights. The primary responsibility of the Airline Dispatcher is to plan and monitor the progress of an aircraft journey, taking into account various factors such as aircraft performance, loading, en route winds, thunderstorm and turbulence forecasts, airspace restrictions, and airport conditions. Each flight requires a dispatcher to sign off before it can take off, and this signature indicates that the flight is safe to depart based on the conditions assessed. The successful candidate will hold a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate, which is essential for this role. The dispatcher will work closely with the flight crew, monitoring and advising them of any circumstances or changes that might affect flight safety. This position is not only about ensuring compliance with regulations but also about providing exceptional service to our customers and airline partners. We pride ourselves on delivering industry-leading service, and our dispatchers play a vital role in maintaining our standard of excellence. The work environment is fast-paced, requiring the ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick decisions. Dispatchers will utilize various software tools to assist in their duties, and they will be expected to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. This role may involve working irregular shifts, including weekdays, weekends, nights, and holidays, to ensure that our operations run smoothly at all times. The physical demands of the job include occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds, and all employment is contingent upon a clear driving record, a 10-year Criminal History Records Check, and a drug screen as required. Additionally, proof of high school or GED completion is necessary, and candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
