About The Position

USU Aviation Technology is seeking a candidate for a position that focuses upon Airfield Management in Price, Utah. This position requires an individual who will oversee all aspects of managing the operations of the Carbon County Airfield, including coordination with Carbon County officials (FAA Airport Manager), the Federal Aviation Administration, airport maintenance personnel, dispatching, using airfield landing and navigational aids, implementing airfield safety procedures, inspections, bird monitoring, maintaining records, and applying knowledge of weather information to safely and efficiently manage airfield operations. In addition, this position will assist with managing the Fixed Base Operations (FBO) with other team members at the Carbon County Airport. This is a 12-month, full-time, benefited position available immediately. The successful candidate for the position below will demonstrate experience in some aspects of airfield operations, and the ability to work harmoniously with colleagues, within and across departments, the local county officials, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and will contribute to program development, assessment and growth in the department. Utah State University is seeking a candidate who has experience in the aviation industry with success in working at a General Aviation (GA) airport. Successful candidates will be able to work with the FAA, state and county officials, the university, industry and college students. Additional duties may include teaching assigned course topics within the Aviation Technology Department which may include, but are not limited to: Airport Management, Aviation Meteorology, Crew Resource Management, graduate, and other aviation courses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aviation management, business administration, or related field
  • Three (3) years of aviation management/operations experience and knowledge of FAA regulations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) Program or similar
  • Master’s Degree in a related field
  • Safety Management System experience
  • Airport Security experience
  • Post-secondary teaching experience

Responsibilities

  • Be the primary safety manager for the airport
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations
  • Manage day-to-day operations of airport
  • Support transient aircraft operations
  • Issue NOTAMS and other notices about the airport
  • Oversee the daily activities at airport
  • Ensure all required regulations are followed
  • Monitor and implement safety and security of airfield
  • Liaison for Carbon County with industry, airline officials as well as the public
  • Manage FBO operations for Carbon County Airport
  • Oversee aviation refueling operations
  • Operational knowledge of required equipment related to airfield operations
  • Teach 1-2 courses per semester in Aviation Technology
  • Assist with career student advising and student club activities
  • Assist in student recruitment and retention, alumni and industry relations, program marketing/public relations, and other program needs
  • Service to include committee work in support of departmental, college, university, and professional society activities
  • Work with the extension activities of the Aggie Drone Academy
  • Supervise line operators as part of the FBO operations
  • Manage hangar usage, tiedowns, ramp allocation and transient aircraft
