The Airfield Electrician III position at the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) involves the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment located on the exterior of the airport property. This includes critical infrastructure such as runways, taxiways, aprons, high mast lighting, security gates, and various GOAA buildings and structures that are not part of the terminal. The role is essential for ensuring the safety and efficiency of airport operations, as it directly impacts the functionality of airfield lighting and electrical systems that support the airport's operations. Candidates for this position must possess a high school diploma or GED and have a minimum of five years of experience in troubleshooting and repairing motor controls, high voltage electrical systems exceeding 600 volts, lighting, power systems, and related electrical equipment. Experience with airfield lighting computer systems is also required, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Additionally, candidates must have completed at least one year of experience as an Airfield Electrician II. The role demands a thorough understanding of electrical codes, airfield lighting systems, and the ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and electrical drawings. Knowledge of OSHA regulations, FAA airfield lighting guidelines, and NFPA standards is crucial. The position also requires effective communication skills, both oral and written, as well as the ability to make sound decisions under pressure and solve problems independently. A valid Florida driver's license and Airport Certified Employee (ACE) certification in Airfield Lighting are necessary, with a current Journeyman Electrician certificate being desirable.
