About The Position

The Airfield Electrical Designer shall be engaged in projects involving, but not limited to, the design of facility related airfield electrical distribution systems, airfield lighting and signage, NAVAIDS, interior and exterior lighting, controls and emergency backup systems. They will participate in project teams to undertake the design and delivery of services related to design and construction of airfield electrical systems, as well as the overall project. This position shall report to the Airfield Electrical Practice Lead. Additional contributions include effective coordination with project stakeholders, and teaming partners to meet the project needs. Responsible for maintaining a high-level standard of quality meeting corporate expectations.

Requirements

  • Willingness to build professional relationships with staff and clients.
  • Working experience with software: Revit and AutoCAD, Visual, GenSize and SKM Power Tools.
  • Working experience and/or ability to learn and become capable in applying codes specific to area of expertise.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Detail and safety-oriented. Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Understanding of underlying principles of A/E industry.
  • Proven record of leadership responsibility and expertise, including decision making, flexibility, problem-solving, reasoning, strategic thinking, and accountability.
  • Basic understanding of multi-discipline systems and installation applicable to landside and airside facilities.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize while being detailed and safety oriented.
  • Excellent communication, motivational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or similar.
  • Five (5) to Twelve (12) years’ experience in a technical capacity reflecting increasing responsibility.
  • Ability to drive and maintain a safe driving record.
  • Valid state driver’s license (any in US).
  • In possession of appropriate paperwork to gain and maintain employment in the US
  • Ability to pass pre-hire drug testing and background check(s).
  • Ability to meet worksite security requirements including criminal background checks and DHS threat assessment evaluations.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical leadership and guidance to designers as a Subject Matter Expert for the discipline of which they practice.
  • Identifies areas for process improvement and implementing changes to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Maintains Arora’s quality standards in delivery of work and ensures Quality Control reviews at project milestones.
  • Assists with development of fee/scope of service proposals, presentations, interviews for and pursues future projects.
  • Builds relationships with existing and potential clients.
  • Assists with recruiting and hiring new staff to join the team.
  • Capable of traveling to project and client sites for presentations, interviews, design, and coordination meetings.
  • required to fulfill the role in support of company goals and pursuits.
  • Functions as Senior Airfield Electrical Designer on assignments with airfield electrical design scope and other disciplines.
  • Ensures coordinated design on projects.
  • Participates in the design development of electrical work.
  • Creates and reviews drawings, technical specifications.
  • Contributes to estimation of projects, planning and construction feasibility.
  • Participates in the development of design drawings.
  • Able to provide advisory information during the construction phase.
  • Able to perform site surveys and contributes to engineering studies.
  • Attends and contributes to office, client and project meetings.
  • Performs engineering studies.
  • Performs technical and coordination check-review of project documentation and drawings.
  • Follows up on issues with design and production staff to resolve problems and concerns.
  • Participates in internal project meetings on a regular basis, including being responsible for minutes
  • Duties as assigned by the Airfield Electrical Practice Lead or SVP of Planning and Design.
