About The Position

This occupation requires the complete layout, cutting, fabricating, assembling and installing aircraft trim parts, vehicle seat covers, chair pads, aircraft and plant equipment coverings, curtains, tire, propeller and engine covers, boots, etc. Plans and makes the original layouts (pattern development) and develops information for changes in Engineering sketches and drawings resulting from trim operations. Works from incomplete engineering information. Fabricates and assembles samples, basis and exterior trim thereof for those complex trim items, such as seats, chairs, divans, davenports and drapes, etc., that demand the full exercise of the varied skills of the upholstering craft. Works with engineering to effect trim design and changes, and metal and wood basic structure to be altered or designed as a result of operations performed during the original fitting of the trim to the underlying structures. Develops curtains to specific areas for various purposes and requirements. Plans and makes original layout to ships interior and develops patterns for such as headlining, curtains, chairs, berths, hat racks, etc. When required, works from blueprints or other authorized documents where complete information is not readily available and/or with inadequate tooling or without the aid of tooling. Works from blueprints, sketches and patterns. Performs as required all basic trim operations and reworks to satisfy custom trim requirements. Also reworks vendor furnished items to latest changes. Works off difficult squawks resulting from trim shakedown. Performs any function of the Sewing Machine Operator as required.

Requirements

  • Two years of aircraft trim experience which includes industrial sewing.
  • Three years upholstery experience which includes commercial sewing
