About The Position

The Aircraft Technician is responsible for the repair and maintenance of aircraft for the Maintenance & Engineering (M&E) division of Horizon Air (QX). As a member of the M&E division, this individual contributor role performs all functions in the repair and maintenance of aircraft, which includes dismantling, repairing, assembly, and construction of machinery and mechanical devices. This is a union represented position.

Requirements

  • Valid Airframe (A) license.
  • Valid Powerplant (P) license or the ability to obtain within 6 months of start date.
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft systems and the ability to troubleshoot and problem solve technical issues.
  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and company procedures.
  • Possess an adequate complement of tools.
  • Meet the recent experience requirements of 14 CFR 65.83 (i.e., six months experience in the last 24 months).
  • Valid passport allowing unrestricted travel, without a Temporary Resident Permit (TRP), to and from the U.S. within 30 days of job acceptance.
  • Able and willing to enter and exit Canada without restrictions and without requiring a Temporary Resident Permit (TRP) in order to complete maintenance work.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability and willingness to operate various types of ground support equipment, including movable turboways, forklifts, tow tractors, elevated boom lifts, and hoists.
  • Ability and willingness to work on elevated surfaces by utilizing stands, climbing ladders or other suitable equipment to access aircraft surfaces at elevation.
  • Ability to consistently lift 70 pounds and ability to bend, stoop, squat, reach and grasp.
  • Ability to work a variety of schedules to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearance.
  • Ability to communicate in English.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and perform maintenance on aircraft including dismantling, repairing, assembly, and construction of machinery and mechanical devices.
  • Perform all work in a prompt and timely manner, adhering to all attendance reliability policies and procedures.
  • Exercise the authority of the FAA Certified Airman License (all genders) – Airframe and/or Powerplant License- in signing the corrective action in maintenance documents or aircraft maintenance log for airworthiness release or return to service, ensuring such is in accordance with Horizon Air policies and procedures.
  • Act as flightdeck coordinator, when assigned, to ensure safe operation of aircraft systems (e.g., flight controls, electrical, landing gear) from the flight deck.
  • Ensure that a clean, safe, and orderly work area is maintained at all times.
