Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for an Aircraft Structures Mechanic- Entry Level to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our E-2D Manufacturing and Production Organization. This role will be located in Saint Augustine, Florida. The selected candidate will perform a variety of operations to assemble and make major assembly structures such as fuselage panels and bulkheads, and structural subassemblies such as rudders, flaps, and stabilizers.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED and hobby/technical related experience in mechanical, sheet metal, composites, body work, electrical, or other dexterous activities.
  • Must be able to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting up to 25 pounds, and working overhead.
  • Must be able to access small, confined spaces and work in an enclosed environment.
  • Ability to pass medical/respiratory evaluation in order to obtain and maintain necessary respirator clearance and compliance with all respirator fitting requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Secret DoD Clearance within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with structural subassemblies such as rudders, flaps and stabilizers.
  • E-2D experience.
  • Experience working on an aerospace manufacturing new production line.
  • Active Secret DoD Clearance last investigated within the last 5 1/2 years.
  • Knowledge of common tools, ability to record and understand precise measurements.
  • Completion of an A&P certificate program or AFAB Program.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand blueprints and translate into fabrications of structural assemblies to include: precision drilling, countersinking, and the use of calibrated tools.
  • Aligning parts on jigs using templates and fixtures.
  • Performing part-fitting operations: filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling and reaming.
  • Measures parts with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions.
  • May modify incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate changes to structure and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
  • Adhere to all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Work and communicate over ambient noise.
  • Work in a variety of work spaces/positions including small, enclosed spaces, awkward, and elevated spaces.
  • Ability to work flexible, changing shifts, including weekends.
