About The Position

Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for an Aircraft Structures Assembler to join our Manufacturing department based in Mobile, AL. Responsible for the structural installation of parts and major components in the manufacturing of the aircraft within the assigned station area. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. The facility, which strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry, is part of Airbus’ strategy to enhance its global competitiveness by meeting the growing needs of its customers in the United States and beyond.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
The ability to successfully complete the following trainings provided by Airbus after recruitment: Health & Safety General aircraft familiarization Quality Training
2 years minimum experience in Aviation Production or equivalent- I.E Shipbuilding, Heavy Machinery, Automotive Manufacturing, Military Aviation, MRO.
Previous hands-on experience with drilling tools, templates, drilling machines, fasteners, and torqueing tools.
Blueprint Reading: Can you build a product solely by reading a complex engineering drawing or schematic?
Precision Measurement: proficiency with calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, and dial indicators.
Torque Specifications: Understanding that bolts must be tightened to a specific number (e.g., "torqued to 50 in-lbs.") rather than just "hand tight."
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Experience following a written "recipe" for assembly where you cannot deviate from the instructions.
Documentation: Experience signing off on your work, logging parts, or tracking lot numbers for quality control.
Sheet Metal Fabricator: Cutting, bending, riveting, and deburring metal.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Able to enter, generate and retrieve information using a computer (SAP and Excel knowledge required).
Vision: Able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
Hearing: Able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
Speaking: Able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
Equipment Operation: Able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
Carrying: Able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
Lifting: Able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
Pushing/Pulling: Able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
Sitting: Able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.
Squatting/Kneeling: Able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
Standing: Able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.
Travel: Able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time and on short notice.
Able to work outside hangers in changing locations.
Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor or outdoor surfaces and other business interactions.

Nice To Haves

Training from a vocational school or previous employer in the use of application tools and in application techniques.
Completion of a technology Certification of Training program from a post-secondary institution or a previous employer and documentation of the same.
5+ years minimum experience in Aviation Production or equivalent- I.E Shipbuilding, Heavy Machinery, Automotive Manufacturing, Military Aviation, MRO.
Knowledge of station safety, quality (clean as you go/FOD) and OSHA regulations.

Responsibilities

Perform repair work (concessions/discrepancies).
Positioning and assembly of components.
Rework of external skin damage of the aircraft.
Work in compliance with production orders, design documents, concessions and inspection procedures.
Prepare and solve queries, ensure follow-up and give feedback.
Examine and sort work orders and drawings.
Prepare job station for daily activity.
Perform other duties as assigned.
