About The Position

This role is a vital part of Squadron Operations. Our mechanics work on WWII era aircraft, keeping them in safe flying condition, performing necessary repairs and services to keep our aircraft in good condition. This is a civilian position and does not require military service (including commissions and enlistment).

Requirements

• Knowledge of the parts and systems found in different models of aircraft
• Familiarity with the proper use of metal working tools, wrenches, punches, tail stands and other commonly used tools
• Reading comprehension skills to understand repair manuals for various aircraft models
• Analytical and problem-solving skills to use flight data to identify and repair problems
• Attentiveness to detail to ensure that work gets performed correctly
• Observation skills to spot defects and damage
• Mathematics and computer skills to utilize equipment and calibrate parts
• Required A&P certification

Nice To Haves

• Experience with radial engines
• Experience with WWII era aircraft

Responsibilities

• Conducting visual inspections to spot mechanical issues
• Interpreting flight data to diagnose problems with parts and systems
• Removing worn-out, old and broken parts and installing replacements
• Testing gauges and equipment during routing service checks
• Inspecting finished repairs to ensure that the work was done correctly
• Consulting maintenance manuals for guidance on how to perform repairs as needed
• Maintaining accurate records of all repairs and maintenance performed
