Aircraft Mechanic A provides effort to execute planned activities concerning operational checkout of aircraft systems, surfaces and structures in a static condition. Follows the optimal production sequence as outlined by the Mechanical Engineers and Industrial Engineers. Reports deviations and non-conformance in process or product. Will set up systems for operational checkout through a series of configurations by determining if system is ready for operations, making necessary power hookup, installing required testing and equipment and assuring compliance with safety requirements. Recognizes operational malfunctioning and localizes and diagnoses its source. Directs and/or makes required adjustments to bring the operations within specifications. Will determine, plan and perform the major rework or repair required to make the system operative. Applies a complete working knowledge of all components relating to the hydraulic, pneumatic, structural and electrical work/checkouts. Will be responsible for area completeness, interior and/or exterior, and final close up including the installation of exterior panels prior to delivery of aircraft to flight line. To use shop mathematics involving layout of coordinated dimensions. To use trigonometry to solve right triangles for unknowns when the given parts are shown in the same planes.
