Location - Pax River Naval Base Performs routine aircraft maintenance functions Must demonstrate an operational knowledge of aircraft, aircraft systems, engines and component parts Operates aircraft towing equipment in towing operations Maintains aircraft hydraulic systems Must have knowledge of the proper use of hand tools in aircraft maintenance Must be able to read and write, and interpret and comply with aircraft maintenance procedures, manuals, specifications, and directives, guides and forms used on the job Perform carbon fiber and composite repairs Corrosion Prevention and treatment Performs preventive maintenance inspections on aircraft and aircraft systems and subsystems Performs troubleshooting, repair, modifications, corrosion control and preservation of aircraft and aircraft systems and aircraft sub-systems. Services ground support equipment. Performs preventive maintenance inspections on all ground support equipment Uses blueprints, schematics, technical drawings and manufacturers' drawings and sketches in the performance of assigned duties Completes maintenance documentation accurately using OOMA, and required forms, as required by job assignment

Requirements

  • At least 6 years' CH/MH-53E Airframes Organizational Maintenance experience in a primary MOS from any of the following OccFlds: 6153 Aircraft Maintenance, equivalent skill designation from other services or possess valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certification
  • At least 2 years' H-53K experience
  • Experience as a Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) on Military Aircraft or 4 years FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) experience
  • Must show proficiency in the use of OOMA within 90 days after assignment
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Aviation Structural Mechanic Core course
  • Aviation Structural Mechanic Organizational Level course
  • Tire and wheel qualification
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance and base access.
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to pass fit for work physical and/or drug test as required.
  • Must be able to work in areas that require awkward posturing, bending, kneeling, squatting, to include working overhead.
  • Must be able to work at height in the hangar and on the flightline.
  • Must be able to man and perform Flightline Extinguisher duties.
  • If required must be able to pass a DOT physical and operate Powered Industrial Trucks.
  • If required must be able to pass a respiratory physical and wear a respirator for 2 - 4 hours.
  • If required must be able to perform confined space activities.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Must be US Citizen to apply
