About The Position

The Aircraft Mechanic 3 release aircraft safe for flight, manage all shop tasking, assign all maintenance workloads, ensure proper manning is maintained in all work centers. Monitor/manage maintenance on aircraft; engine/structure Gearboxes, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, hydraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, flight schedule and operations, ventilation and heating systems and phase and preservation services, Working with customer maintenance control department leadership. Essential Responsibilities: Repairs and rebuild aircraft structures, such as blades and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, ensuring hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills are being used properly. Reads and interprets manufacturers and maintenance manuals, OPNAV 4790, properly document aircraft maintenance/SE/PMS/aircraft fight hours/ all aircraft inspections in NALCOMIS/OOMA, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Implement local GOP, LOI, PQS, Safety Orders. Performs 200-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections, examines engines for cracked blades and oil leaks, inspects turbine engines and components for cracks, corrosion, foreign object damage, burned areas, distortions, security, warping, wear, and missing segments. Inspects engine turbine blades to detect cracks, distortion, corrosion, burn-out, security, or breaks, tests engine operation, using testing equipment. Replace or repair worn or damaged components, such as generators, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment; removing engine from aircraft, using hoist or crane, disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairing or replacing defective engine parts and reassembles and installs engine in aircraft. Job duties require that this Mechanic 3 be able to release aircraft safe for flight, manage all shop tasks, assign all maintenance workloads, ensure proper manning is maintained in all work centers. Understand/able to document the following: preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, and miscellaneous duties to include servicing aircraft, including flushing gearbox, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, checking brakes and corrosion prevention of aircraft. Leadership ability is required, assign and monitor; Ensure safety procedures are followed for the following: adjustment, repairs, or replace any aircraft system and aircraft accessories, performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing gearbox, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, checking brakes and corrosion prevention of aircraft. This is not an all-inclusive list. Good knowledge and able to properly document the following: Participate in the jacking and towing of aircraft, entries into the maintenance records description of all work performed including safety of flight items and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily, may service/inspect/remove/install engine, airframe, electrical, ordnance components in hanger or flight line, required to keep aircraft in safe and mission ready operating condition. Must be able to repair and perform modification of all aircraft systems and assemblies. This is not an all-inclusive list. Mechanic 3 shall be responsible for other areas of the aircraft that he or she may be required to fulfill other obligations for aircraft maintenance or administration duties. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of Ten (10) years actual and recent O level H-60S/R/F/H Aircraft Maintenance experience or equivalent rotary aircraft experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years actual H60 Safe for Flight (release aircraft safe to fly), CDQAR/QAR experience
  • Four (4) years must be performed at a management level required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all required qualifications and complete all Personal Qualification Standards (PQS) in accordance with instructions as outlined in CNAFINST 4790.2 (series) and Local work site local instructions. It shall be completed within the time frame set by local work site instructions
  • Must be able to work all shifts. Full time employment: but 40 hour is not guaranteed per-week. Working hours; must be able to be flexible, start time and end time will be dependent on flight schedule and or overall tasking
  • Ability to read and write and interpret technical data and special operating instructions is required. An in-depth knowledge of the applicable aircraft is required. A thorough working knowledge of applicable technical publication is required
  • Ability to use a computer, Navy computer programs: NALCOMIS/OOMA. keyboard and mouse printer and be proficient using computer programs Word, Excel, powerpoint, Outlook, Good verbal and written skills and leadership ability are required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC)
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks
  • All Work Site Positions: Job descriptions and responsibilities shall change with changes to US Navy Mission and needs
  • Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a U.S. Government background security check
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English
  • Successfully passing a pre-employment drug screen
  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested in accordance with the PWS and Site Management
  • Must be able and available to work all shifts on site

  • Prior experience with U.S. Naval repair maintenance operations on military aircraft highly preferred
