About The Position

The Aircraft Mechanic III (LUH72) A&P performs scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance, including repairs and modifications to aircraft structures, structural components, and engines of complex to extreme difficulty. The role involves maintaining and repairing aircraft components such as flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components. The mechanic applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions and provides technical expertise to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints and manufacturers' manuals. The position requires comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting and repair procedures, as well as the ability to determine the functionality of complex electrical systems. The mechanic is responsible for accomplishing inspections, launching and recovering aircraft, performing operational checks of all aircraft systems, and maintaining aircraft appearance and cleanliness. Additionally, the role includes operating ground support equipment and using hand tools, special tools, and fixtures applicable to aircraft maintenance.

Requirements

  • Valid up-to-date A&P license.
  • Five years aviation maintenance experience.
  • Five years rotary wing aircraft experience.
  • Two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS).
  • Ability to read, interpret, and comprehend schematic diagrams, drawings, charts, and technical publications.
  • Knowledge of aircraft hand tools, special tools, and test equipment.
  • Ability to routinely lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform physical duties including standing, lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling for extended periods.
  • Experience working at heights at or above 40 feet.
  • Must provide own tools/toolbox, tools must be shadowed and etched with PID.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of electrical theory.
  • Experience with military technical publications and the Army's Unit Level Logistics Aviation Information System (ULLSAE).

Responsibilities

  • Accomplish inspections including preflight, thru-flight, basic post-flight, and phase inspections.
  • Launch and recover aircraft as required.
  • Perform operational checks of all aircraft systems.
  • Maintain aircraft appearance and cleanliness.
  • Operate all associated ground support equipment.
  • Annotate maintenance actions in aircraft records/forms.
  • Complete associated CAMS entries.
  • Practice good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness, and safety.
