About The Position

The Aircraft Mechanic II (UH-60 Quality Control Inspector) is responsible for inspecting the repair and modification of aircraft structures, components, and engines. This role involves planning, conducting, and supervising technical inspections, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and providing guidance to lower-level technicians. The position requires a strong technical background in aircraft maintenance and inspection, as well as leadership skills to oversee small teams and contribute to quality control programs.

Requirements

  • Five years of recent applicable aircraft maintenance experience.
  • One year experience inspecting MDS aircraft assigned.
  • Possess a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant License (A&P).
  • Hold a valid FAA Inspection Authorization (IA).
  • Completed the 15-series career management field Advanced Leadership Course or possess an FAA A&P License.
  • Must have Security Clearance appropriate to the level required for the work.
  • Broad working knowledge of aircraft maintenance and inspection techniques.
  • Working knowledge of aircraft safety requirements and portable firefighting equipment operation.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams and technical publications.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and personnel management skills.
  • Detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools and test equipment.
  • Basic computer data entry skills for maintenance and logistics databases.
  • Possess a current, valid ARMY or FAA Third Class Medical Certificate if assigned to flight duty.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and evaluate repairs and modifications to aircraft structures, structural components, and engines.
  • Plan, conduct, and supervise aircraft technical inspections.
  • Inspect and evaluate maintenance of aircraft components including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, and fuel systems.
  • Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions.
  • Restore equipment condition and operation using technical expertise.
  • Participate in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.
  • Ensure compliance with aircraft configuration control and diagnostic equipment calibration.
  • Provide guidance to lower-level technicians in aircraft repair and inspection techniques.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of quality control and ground safety programs.
  • Inspect and verify proper completion and documentation of safety and flight discrepancies.
