Makes repairs and adjustments to aircraft on the flight line and in the field. Perform parts replacement to assist in troubleshooting of systems to isolate and correct discrepancies. Requires knowledge of systems and applicable manuals and instructions in type aircraft. Provides guidance and assistance in resolving / repairing discrepancies discovered by Plane Captains during required inspections. Participates in flight operations as an In-Flight Maintenance Observer once qualified and as directed by supervisory personnel. May assist the Functional Check Pilots in preflight and post flight inspections of aircraft. May be required to use hazardous materials in performance of assigned duties. Knowledge of COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 Series and other applicable Navy Instructions, Manufacturer Manuals and Company Instructions. Must have a good working knowledge of type aircraft maintenance and be able to demonstrate maintenance skills and knowledge of aircraft systems. Must be able to read, speak, write legibly and understand the English language. Must pass FM flight physical as required. Must be qualified and certified as a Plane Captain or become qualified and certified within 120 days after assuming the position. Must have experience in corrosion detection, treatment and prevention. Perform corrosion control cleaning and removal as required utilizing precautions in the SDS for materials utilized to complete these tasks.
