Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 4+ years of experience with aircraft structural repairs, including heavy maintenance
  • 4+ years working with non-porous metals (aluminum, titanium, stainless steel)
  • 4+ years interpreting schematics, specs, SOPs, and assembly drawings
  • 4+ years using structural hand tools and performing close-tolerance drilling and fastening
  • Aircraft sheet metal and structural modification
  • Basic electrical system functionality
  • Usage of unique aircraft tools: torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, brakes, shears, cable tensiometers
  • Technical publications and repair manuals
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined areas
  • Must pass vision, color perception, and physical performance testing
  • Ability to use PPE and handle hazardous materials
  • Must maintain regular attendance and complete a post-training assessment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience performing heavy maintenance on F/A-18 aircraft or equivalent depot-level programs
  • Experience working with titanium structures on military or commercial aircraft

Responsibilities

  • Perform depot-level structural repairs including drilling, reaming, countersinking, and installation in critical support and fracture-critical areas
  • Locate and install structural components, including doublers, stringers, webs, and seat tracks
  • Conduct sealing, painting, shimming, and preservation operations per repair specifications
  • Interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and process specifications to perform complex structural repairs and modifications
  • Use specialized hand tools: drills (45°/90°), rivet guns, countersink cages, hole finders, pancake adapters
  • Operate aircraft tooling assemblies and fixtures for modification tasks
  • Troubleshoot and replace aircraft mechanical components (engines, hydraulics, fuel systems, pneumatics)
  • Access maintenance systems to retrieve aircraft data and submit parts/discrepancy requests
  • Assist other technicians (mechanical, avionics, electronics) to meet schedule and cost objectives
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout and FOD control
  • Perform logbook entries and documentation as required
  • Maintain certifications, licenses, and required qualifications
  • Comply with worksite PPE and environmental procedures
  • Ascend/descend ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 35 lbs
  • Adhere to variable shift schedules, including weekends and holidays, as mission requires
